There are many ways of working with weather and different disciplines use different techniques. Here are a few basics in preparation and some techniques one can use without a lot of specialized training.
1. Check with higher powers, especially Grandmother, the spirit of the Earth. There may be plans in the works or reasons of which we are unaware for a particular type of weather.
Humans really are fat heads. About sixty percent of the human brain is fat. To maintain proper brain health, you need to get adequate fat from your diet. But, not just any fat will do. Some fats damage the brain. The Standard American Diet (SAD) high in trans and hydrogenated fats worsens inflammation in the body, and this inflammation can damage delicate brain tissues. These unhealthy fats are found in fried foods, shortening, lard, margarine, baked goods, and processed and prepared foods.
Healthy fats help keep the lining of brain cells flexible so that memory and other brain messages can pass easily between cells. Both Omega-6 and Omega-3 fats are important to brain health and should be eaten in a one-to-one or two-to-one ratio to each other. However, the average North American eats these foods in a twenty-to-one to a fifty-to-one ratio, causing a huge imbalance and resulting Omega-3 deficiency.
In order to really pray we have to let go of our pride, of our clinging to self. We have to let go of our self-importance, of that part that says, ?Look at me, I?m praying? or the one that says, ?Maybe if I recite mantra, it will go over there to that person.? That?s not awakened; that?s dualistic. So pride is the main obstacle to our true prayer?pride and its twin, doubt.
Jesus once gave a teaching in which he said, ?It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.? What did he mean? In ancient Jerusalem there was one gate that went into the city (it was known as ?the eye of a needle?), and that gate was very low and very small. In order for a camel to get through it, it had to get down on its knees and crawl. But a rich person is often too proud to kneel. So that teaching explains that pride is the obstacle. Pride is the enemy.
The energy of mindfulness is the salve that will recognize and heal the child within. But how do we cultivate this energy?
Buddhist psychology divides consciousness into two parts. One part is mind consciousness and the other is store consciousness. Mind consciousness is our active awareness. Western psychology calls it ?the conscious mind.? To cultivate the energy of mindfulness, we try to engage our active awareness in all our activities and be truly present with whatever we are doing. We want to be mindful as we drink our tea or drive through the city. When we walk, we want to be aware that we are walking. When we breathe, we want to be aware that we are breathing.
This New Moon in Pisces occurs at 3:46pm EST (8:46 pm GMT) at 14 degrees. New moons signify a new cycle, new beginnings, and rebirth. This new moon will highlight the Piscean qualities of imagination and enlightenment. Pisces also invites us to dream a little further beyond ourselves, forgiving others who may have wronged us (and perhaps even forgiving ourselves for past hurts or mistakes). Saturn Retrograde in Libra also makes a quincunx to the New Moon, signifying that perhaps you need to make some changes before you can move on to dreaming up what the future holds.
Seven years after its release The Truman Show (1998) resonates more than a cautionary tale. The Truman Show develops an omnipotent thesis of archetypes playing out their role despite materialist human efforts to construct artificial archetypes. The premise of this film is to send a message to active audiences that no matter how hard the powerful elite try to construct a reality for us, our souls will direct us to a path that is meant to be. This essay is a deconstruction of the film from an archetypal perspective, a perspective that rests on a backdrop of Jung and post-Jungian thinking. Here I posit cinema as a soul-making mediator for humanity.
Have you ever been thinking about a friend you haven?t spoken to in ages, only to have the phone ring and hear their voice on the other end?
At times like that you might have had a nudge from your intuition that caused you to be thinking about that person just before they rang, or it could be synchronicity at work.
Psychologist Carl Jung first started talking about synchronicity back in the 1920s as he was trying to make sense of how two or more events that don?t seem to be linked in any tangible manner happen in a way that we can meaningfully link together.
To those of you who are new on the path, this is your opportunity to remain a child. That might not sound like a good idea, because we?re all told that it?s really cool to grow up and be sophisticated and make sense of every opportunity. I?m not sure that I agree. I?m not sure making sense is the best idea. I think what is really precious and really important is to remain innocent, with a pure and noble heart. And if you go before the stupa or go before any of these altars and offer one rose, one flower from your heart and say, ?For the sake of all sentient beings, make of me whatever is necessary so that all suffering might end,? this is an empowerment.
Most of us are familiar with Archangel Michael and his energy sword of protection. Michael's task is to protect the Earth and help every living thing here evolve and return to its perfect state. His energy is powerful, protective and filled with love and compassion. I have seen Michael and he is strong and very tall with very light brown hair. Michael tells me that you can call upon his Light Ray, which is a deep blue ray of light with flashes of white and red. Visualize this bright and protective light ray surrounding your cats.
One organization that has been established to record the disappearing languages around the world, including those of North America--and perhaps to help revitalize those that are on the brink of extinction--is the Living Tongues Institute for Endangered Languages.

Living Tongues has linked up with the National Geographic Society to form the Enduring Voices Project, which strives to preserve endangered languages by identifying language hotspots--the places with the most unique, poorly understood, or threatened indigenous languages--and documenting the languages and cultures within them.
Under the Enduring Voices Project, linguists journey to meet with last speakers, listen to their stories, and document their languages with film, pictures, and audio to help communities preserve their knowledge of species, landscapes, and traditions before they vanish, according to the project's Web site.
In findings just published in the journal Anticancer Research, scientists at the University of California (UC) San Diego School of Medicine and Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha have reported that most people need a much higher intake of vitamin D. And that simple step added to your life could slash your risk of developing serious diseases -- including cancer -- by about 50 percent.
Because Mr. Sheen can?t bear to confront the emotional catastrophe of his life, he takes refuge in a grandiose view of himself. He continually refers to himself as a rock star, envisions himself living on a superior plane with ?goddesses? and even seems to see himself as god-like: ?When you?ve got tiger blood and Adonis DNA, it?s like ? you?ve been given magic, you?ve been given gold!?
This is the same consolation he seeks to offer his children: Don?t feel bad that your childhood has been a chaotic and painful mess due to my wild lifestyle, drug addiction and violence ? your dad is rich and famous! You have to grieve for these children, and even for Mr. Sheen, though his aggressive, contemptuous style makes it difficult to glimpse the pain behind his defenses.
I?m sure gratitude is a familiar concept to you. You were probably taught to say ?please? and ?thank you,? learned about grace and gratitude through religious scripture, and even celebrate the national holiday of Thanksgiving.
We live in a fairly abundant society were most people have their basic needs met and live a comfortable life style.
The challenges themselves, even the most difficult ones, aren?t usually the real issue; it?s our relationship to them that causes us the most difficulty and suffering. Think of what your life, your relationships, and your career would be like if you didn?t complain about or resist challenges when they showed up? For most of us, myself included, this would make things very different and much more enjoyable.
Resisting, complaining about, or even feeling sorry for ourselves about the ?bad? things that are happening is totally normal and what we?re often encouraged to do by people around us and our culture in general ? whether we do it out loud with others or just in our own heads. However, these things, while understandable, don?t address the real issues, the genuine emotions we?re experiencing, or make things better for us.
I confess to being as prone to the distractions of the Internet as anyone else: I will start reading about something that interests me and disappear down the rabbit hole for hours (even days) at a time.
But my ability to focus on a single task has dramatically improved, and that one habit has changed my life.
While a few years ago I couldn?t sit down to work on something without quickly switching to email or one of my favorite Internet forums or sites, today I can sit down and write. I can clear away distractions, when I set my mind to it, and do one thing. And that changes everything: you lose yourself in that task, become so immersed that you pour everything you have into the work, and it becomes a meditative, transformative experience. Your happiness increases, stress goes down, and work improves.
The great Amazon rainforest is both the most bio-diverse place on Earth, and the largest natural pharmacy. Many hundreds of Amazonian native remedies have been well documented and studied.
Among them, one of the very most popular is chuchuhuasi (Maytenus krukovii), a very large canopy tree, whose bark has been used as a general remedy for many centuries. Shamans, medicine men and women commonly employ chuchuhuasi for both curative and prophylactic purposes.
Dreams prompt us to expand our vocabulary, setting us learning tasks ranging from the language of quantum physics to the identification of different types of hermit crab. Even if we decide not to take more than a few steps in some of these journeys of learning and remembering, our ability to decode an intially mysterious word or symbol sometimes provides important objective confirmation that we are dreaming into transpersonal and/or ancestral territory.

Surely you?ve heard of positive affirmations. The use of positive affirmations, also called subliminal messages, is now very popular due to its role in personal development and self help. In today?s age, people are now becoming more proactive and want to take control of their lives. And positive affirmations help them achieve this; all they have to do is keep their minds focused on the positive things they want to achieve.
So far, positive affirmations are being used to help people:
* Gain more confidence
* Gain more wealth
* Perform better
* Attract more opportunities
* Improve self-image
These are just some of the many possible uses of positive affirmations.
However, there is another concept that you may not be familiar with yet, and this is reverse affirmations. Reverse affirmations is also another way of promoting personal improvement. In fact, proponents say that they are more effective than positive affirmations.
If you could, would you go back to being a child again? Whether you would or not, there are a few things you might have forgotten about being a child that actually are key to transforming your life as the grown up you are today. So what are they?
"Urban Shamanism" refers to the contemporary application of shamanic practices for use in shamanic healing, personal growth, problem solving, and self-discovery. Urban shamanism is an ever-evolving system of healing practices and tools that help resolve the conflicts between a person?s spirit, mind, and body. Such rifts occur because of the stresses and chaotic pace of modern life.
Urban shamans enter into altered states of consciousness and travel to other-dimensional worlds, called non-ordinary reality, to seek wisdom and guidance that will help people heal. The existence of these hidden worlds is known of mainly through legend, dream states, and near-death experiences.
